The MuCEM (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations) in Marseille hosted a major exhibition entitled 'Vies d'Ordures — The Economy of Waste', presented from March 21 to August 14, 2017. This exhibition explored waste management in Mediterranean countries, blending artistic, scientific and citizen-led approaches.

The Moroccan association Zero Zbel was invited to participate alongside other Mediterranean initiatives. The exhibition highlighted waste circuits, from collection to recycling, including informal actors who form an essential link in the chain in many countries of the Global South.

Zero Zbel presented its zero waste lifestyle awareness work in Morocco: its campaigns in souks and markets, beach cleanup initiatives, and studies on plastic pollution. The association showcased its unique approach combining Moroccan cultural heritage (the 'qoffa', the traditional basket) with modern environmental commitment.

The MuCEM exhibition brought together works by contemporary artists, testimonies from recycling workers, and scientific data on the environmental impact of waste in the Mediterranean. Zero Zbel's presence in this prestigious context helped strengthen the international visibility of the Moroccan zero waste movement.

This invitation to MuCEM consecrates the recognition of Zero Zbel's grassroots work and demonstrates the reach of Moroccan civil society in the fight for Mediterranean environmental preservation.
